Doing my Boyfriend's make-up

When I was 15, my friends and I were huge Good Charlotte fans. You know who you are! We loved our punk rock guys in eyeliner. Boys wearing eyeliner was the sexiest thing we could imagine. Fast forward ... eh ... a few years and I still have a soft-spot for some good guyliner. And I did my 15-year-old self proud by finding a guy who was fond of it too.

When I met Boyfriend he had an 8" (get your minds out of the gutter) mohawk, a Jack Skellington tattoo and he was a barman. And eyeliner, plenty of eyeliner. Since then the hair has changed, but the eye makeup hasn't, if anything there's more of it. And now, of course, the person applying it has changed too - because it's me.

So most Friday and Saturday nights I can be found helping him get ready for work - which generally means I do his makeup. If you're not convinced that a guy could wear makeup, well then keep reading.

Falling for the hype - Effaclar Duo or Effaclar AI

My love for La Roche-Posay is probably already pretty apparent from my glowing review of the Nutric Intense Riche. But that's not where it started.

A few weeks before that I had a Dundrum voucher and a problem - my skin was breaking out in what I thought were random places. Mostly on my cheeks, forehead and nose. So I needed something to treat blemishes. I mentioned this to Avril (of Blushful Beauty) and she said La Roche-Posay's Effaclar Duo was making waves in the beauty world.

Now, when it came to it do you think I could remember the name? Of course not, but eventually I did find myself in front of the La Roche-Posay counter and I had narrowed it down to two:

Luxe for Less - Quilted Biker Jacket

Well there comes in time in every girl's monthly budget she admits to herself that she hasn't won the lottery and Pay Day is painfully far away. But does that stop her wanting nice things? Of course not - does anything?

We've all been there, but there is hope.
This is where Luxe for Less comes in.

It has two meanings, say it out loud - looks for less. Put together that killer outfit without killing your bank account. And also, get that luxury look with out the luxury price tag.

The Three Men I Plan on Spending my Weekend with

... Besides my Boyfriend, obviously

lurcher mix puppy
Saturday:

This not-so-little guy will be running around and wrestling with other pups at a DSPCA King of Paws Play Date.

Great socialisation for them, all the dogs are within the same age bracket, they learn about play and proper behaviour and you can practice some of your training too. The play dates are free, but you have to register so they know how many dogs will be there. You are asked to make a small donation if you can.

Play dates or indoors, well supervised and the single best way to spend an hour on a Saturday! Honestly, it's a happiest place on Earth. Let me spell it out for you - it's a room full of puppies!!! It's impossible not to fall in love with them all and pretend your's isn't the one humping the chair ...

Hallelujah, my skin is saved - La Roche Posay Nutritic Intense Riche

I often hint at the state my skin is in - and I realise I never really explained what I was talking about. To be honest, it was embarrassingly bad. Very dry and flakey - hardly lasting a day with any moisturiser I tried and I was also starting to break out (and only in one or two very specific areas too). Anyone who has seen me recently was probably too polite to note the flakey concealer drying out my easily-dried out skin (I'm looking at you Collection 2000) or how my foundation was okay from a distance, but not that great up close. I only posed for pictures from a certain angle, and I've even avoided going out because I was having "a bad skin day" - but of course I'd never admit that.

So my skincare regime was undergoing an overhaul. While it was going well I had yet to find a moisturiser. Then Beaut.ie were looking for participants for a trial of a new La Roche Posay product for people dry skin. I signed up, forgot all about it and then somehow made the cut! So I was sent out a pot of La Roche Posay NUTRITIC INTENSE RICHE and then something magical happened.

It worked.

My new love affair, lighting up my life with Chanel

First of all. This is not a review. Attempting to catch up on over a week's worth of blogs has left me weary of glowing reviews and endless swatches. Oh the swatches. Also new job (yay!) requires me to write almost constantly, checking myself, word counts, structure - so I would much prefer to just ... write for the moment. If that's alright with you of course.

I blame Kelly Hope Murphy for this. She got her hands on the limited edition Poudre Signee de Chanel Illuminating Powder. I missed my chance to have someone pick it up duty free but I chanced my arm and cautiously approached the Chanel counter.

Fine One One - What's your Emergency?

I was arrested last Thursday.

There I was drinking champagne, as ya' do on a work night, and all of a sudden I hear a loud siren and a mega-phone voice informed me I was under arrest. Apparently I was just too damn gorgeous; who knew that was a felony? Tough life, I know.

Then a makeup artist, who was wearing a police hat and handcuffs, hit me with a night stick. Also somebody thought it would be great idea to give Mark Rogers a megaphone ... This is all in a day's work when you're at a Benefit event. But what doesn't happen every day is the launch of something really, really special.
