7 Days of Skincare - Day 3 - Let there be light

"The best skin is skin that can reflect light.Francois Nars

Transepidermal Water Loss the measurement of the quantity of water that passes from inside a body (animal or plant) through the epidermal layer (skin) to the surrounding atmosphere via diffusion and evaporation processes.
Excuse the terminology - but I had to wrap my head around it to! If you really want to delve further in, Check out this blog, I swear it will all start to make sense! So my skin's TWL is that little bit higher, this is how it ends up so dehydrated at the slightest upset - not moisturising after a shower, not taking my make-up off at night, anything.
I was offered an appointment with Jane Richardson of Nars as she made a flying visit to Brown Thomas - something in the universe aligned to get me that appointment, because that was the best lunchbreak I've ever had!
So much of what I learned about my skin I learned that day - about hydration, why my skin does what it does and how I can help it. So many of my problems all came down to hydration and while there were a number of products she recommended from the NARSskin line, she was an advocate of using up a product (as long as it's working) before buying another - but this, this she highly recommended I get as soon as possible, and I'm so glad I did.
This is the NARSskin Aqua Gel Luminous Mask. Jane described it as her "first aid" because whenever her skin needed a boost she threw it on. She also applied it before traveling to stave off that dry-airplane skin. If she's meeting a bride or a model, she gives them a sample of this the night before.
It's like drink of water for your skin! No kidding - the website describes it as:
An advanced treatment mask that provides a surge of hydration to the skin. Potent natural botanicals enhance collagen production and protect skin’s elastin for ultra-soft, youthful looking skin.
Contains the NARS exclusive Light Reflecting Complex™ designed to restore skin’s youthful radiance and reflect light like a prism.
  • For all skin types
  • Dermatologist Tested & Non-Comedogenic
  • Synthetic Fragrance Free, Paraben Free, Alcohol Free

It was recommended I use it every night for a week and then every other day and then whenever my skin needed it. Every morning I could see a gradual and consistent improvement in my skin. It was smooth, soft and make-up went on so much easier.

The product comes out in a cloudy lotion/gel formula, as you spread it over your face it goes clear and you can feel it change texture to a watery consistency which is that point at which you stop and leave it and almost instantly your skin starts drinking it up. Dull, flaky skin is no longer tight or uncomfortable - and for me, a lot of the redness disappeared too.

You can also throw it on during the day for 5-10min, for instance when I come in after a day wearing make-up and I'm going out later on, I take everything off and apply the mask for a few minutes before prepping for a new face of make-up. It makes everything so much easier and because I prefere an illuminating, dewy finish foundation - everything goes on easier and lasts so much better.

I've scaled back my usage of the mask to every other day - usually my skin tells me when it's time for a boost! A friend has recently commented that my skin looked much better - a comment which she retracted and replaced with a greater compliment when I told her I wasn't wearing any make-up!

Hydrated skin is more radient, and this product in particular illuminates your skin with it's microscopic prisms - bringing life to the phrase "bright and beautiful".

Do you have a miracle product? How do you keep your skin hydrated?

Lots of love
Lisa
